A MET Office warning for “very strong” winds in the Borders has been extended.

The yellow weather alert came into effect at 6am today (November 11) and was due to last until 11am.

But that has now been pushed back, with the warning now in place until 3pm.

A Met Office spokesperson said: “Very strong and gusty winds may lead to some travel disruption until mid afternoon.

“Southwesterly winds will be very strong at times, particularly over and to the east of high ground, where gusts of 55-65mph are likely at times.”

The spokesperson added that winds will ‘ease down through the afternoon’.
