THE Borders could be hit by potential flooding as heavy rainfall is expected tomorrow afternoon.

The Met Office has issued the region with a yellow warning for rain, with reports stating that between 3pm on Thursday (November 17) and 6pm on Friday (November 18) heavy and persistent rainfall is expected.

According to the the Met Office's warning impact matrix this warning has a low likelihood and a medium impact.

A Met Office spokesperson said: "Conditions will be wetting up through Thursday with a steady stream of showers followed by persistent rainfall later Thursday, continuing on Friday.

"Rainfall building up across the high ground of eastern Scotland with 50 to 70 mm expected and up to 100 mm possible across the hills of Angus and Aberdeenshire.

"Rain then dying out later on Friday."

Parts of the Borders likely to be affected by this warning include Walkerburn, Galashiels, and Kelso.
