IT’S ALL change at the top of Gala Fairydean Rovers Community Trust.
Ross Buchan, the man widely credited for the success of the Netherdale stand refurbishment project, formally stepped down as chairman at the AGM last week to pursue other interests.
However, he will still be around to lend his experience if required.

Mr Buchan was presented with an engraved silver salva for his work with the foundation by his replacement, former secretary Graeme McIver, who praised his contribution and also issued an appeal for additional volunteers in a number of roles.
Mr McIver said: “It’s an honour and a privilege to take over as chair of the Gala Fairydean Rovers FC Community Trust and help build on the fantastic work of my predecessor Ross Buchan.
“The fantastic achievement of the delivery of the stand refurbishment programme was driven by Ross, as was the establishment of the Trust itself.
“We want to continue to grow and nurture the organisation. Our ethos is best summed up by our motto, 'A Community organisation with a heart, in the heart of our community'.

"Our community programme continues to grow as does the number of people who are part of the Trust. We are always looking to encourage more volunteers to become involved and help us deliver our objectives.
"You don’t need to know anything about football. You just need to want to help your community.
"We always need new skills and attributes that volunteers can bring and will shortly be advertising a number of key positions and volunteer roles we would like to fill."
The Community Trust was formed in September 2020 and consists of the four sections which include the academy, comprising the juniors, youths and the adult amateur football team; the women’s and girls’ football squad; over 50s walking football and the para football squad.
Since it’s formation, the Trust has worked with a variety of other locally charitable organisations, such as the Galashiels Foodbank and the heart health charity Scottish HART, striving to help improve the local community of Galashiels and the central Borders.
