A LANE closure and temporary traffic lights will be in place on a major Borders road from next week, according to officials.

BEAR Scotland will carry out ground investigation works on the A7 at Boleside, north of Selkirk, for three weeks from Monday (November 28) to Friday, December 16.

One lane on this stretch of the A7 will be closed.

A convoy system will operate during the day which will revert to temporary traffic lights overnight and at weekends.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s south east network manager, said: “For the safety of the workforce and the travelling public, it will be necessary to close one lane of the A7 while we carry out the ground investigation.

“Either temporary traffic lights or a convoy system will be in place for the duration of the investigation.

“We’re grateful to road users and local communities for their patience and understanding.”

The results of the investigation will be used in the design of future works to stabilise the embankment supporting the trunk road over this section of the route.
