THE names of the two victims of a crash near Selkirk last month have been released by Scottish Borders Police.

A man and woman both died last month following a crash on the A7 between Selkirk and Galashiels on Saturday, November 26.

At the junction of the B7060 at around 3.25pm a Honda Jazz – driven by Henry Keith Holme – was heading north when it collided with a Ford Fiesta heading south.

Mr Holmes who was known as Keith, was 90-years-old and was from Melrose was the only occupant of the Honda Jazz.

Janette Tait, 79, from Selkirk, was a passenger in the Ford Fiesta.

Both died at the scene.

Mr Holme's family have paid tribute to him.

They said: "Henry Keith Holme, known as Keith was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

"He will be sorely missed by his family and the community he served in Galashiels for over 30 years as a pharmacist at Holme Pharmacy."

And the family of Mrs Tait said she was a "wonderful grandmother".

They added: "Janette Tait will be dearly missed by all her family and friends.

"She was a loving wife and mother and was a wonderful grandmother to her three grandchildren."

The 81-year-old male driver of the Ford Fiesta was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh by ambulance at the time of the crash, and he still remains there.

Sergeant Iain McIntyre, Roads Policing Unit, said: “Our enquiries into the crash are ongoing.

"Anyone who witnessed the crash, or who may have dash-cam footage that could assist with our investigation is also asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident 2079 of Saturday, 26 November, 2022.”
