DODDIE Aid 2023 is up and running with two of Scotland’s top film and music stars amongst the thousands taking part in the  virtual mass-participation exercise event.

Doddie Aid lasts for six weeks and any exercise counts, with the winning district being the one with the most miles at the end of the event.

The event raises funds for My Name’5 Doddie Foundation which invests in research to find meaningful treatments for Motor Neuron Disease (MND).

Over the last 2 years, the event has seen over 30,000 participants cover 4 million miles and raise over £2 million for the Foundation.

Star Wars and Trainspotting star Ewan McGregor who has joined Team North and Midlands said: “I was very sorry to hear of Doddie’s passing in November. And I send my heartfelt condolences to all his family and friends.

“He was a giant of a man in all regards and the way he tackled his MND diagnosis was inspirational. The My Name’s Doddie Foundation works tirelessly in his name to raise funds for valuable research.

“And they won’t rest until a cure is found for this terrible disease.

“And you can play your part too by joining the 2023 Doddie Aid inter district challenge. Download the Doddie Aid app, sign up to a district and start clocking your miles from the first of January, either as an individual or as part of a league.

“There may even be a Jedi league that you could join.

“So get signed up and continue Doddie’s campaign for a world free of MND.”

Singer songwriter Lewis Capaldi said: “I’ve just climbed up the hill Ben Hogh on the Isle of Coll in support of Doddie. You can also join me.

“I’ll be logging this big walk that I’ve just done on the Doddie Aid app for Team Glasgow.

“Go for a run, walk, cycle, climb up a hill and get on the app for a team, Glasgow, Edinburgh, North and South wherever.

“So come join me and help find a cure for MND.”
