COMMUNITY groups in Peeblesshire have come together to raise money for an important cause.
Peebles choir InChorus joined with Innerleithen, Walkerburn and Traquair (IWT) Rotary and Peebles Rotary Club to raise more than £1,000 for the My Name'5 Doddie foundation.
Manager of InChorus Lorna Turnbull said: “This is an awful condition and it is imperative that money is available for research into it. The choir is keen to do its bit to help.”
After performing at the IWT charity concert for a cyclone-damaged village in Malawi, and at Peebles Rotary's Christmas dinner, InChorus received two generous donations from the organisations.
Following on from their successful concerts, InChorus took their talents to the streets with carol singing around Peebles, and at Dovecot Court on Christmas day.
Lorna Turnbull continued: “Even on such a busy day members of the public paused to listen and to drop money into our collection buckets. We never take their goodwill for granted and thank them wholeheartedly.
"The final total from the three gigs exceeded £1000 which is splendid.
“During the choir’s fundraising period, the charity’s founder Doddie Weir finally succumbed to MND, so it is fitting that we Borderers continue with our support for his vision right here on his home turf.”
