WALKING like a penguin can help reduce your risk of falling and injury says NHS Borders.

Once again, freezing cold overnight temperatures in the Scottish Borders have made conditions difficult for pedestrians as well as drivers.

There is a risk of icy conditions on untreated roads and pavements throughout the region.

And no one wants to end up in the emergency department.

NHS Borders says that if you need to go out in the icy weather, please take extra care and stay safe.

Their tips include:

Relax your knees.

Keep your arms at your sides for balance (Not in your pockets)

Point your feet out a little

Take small steps and walk slowly.
