YOUNG actors in the Borders are embarking on their final days of rehearsals for their latest performance.

Members of Borders Youth Theatre (BYT) were tasked with learning and rehearsing Remote, by Stef Smith, in just five days.

Tomorrow (Wednesday, February 15) is the final day of rehearsals for BYT before they take to the stage in the Heart of Hawick on Thursday night and again on Saturday, February 18.

Remote follows the story of a group of seven teenagers whose lives intertwine on an Autumn evening as they walk through a park.

Former members of BYT have joined the production too.

A BYT spokesperson said: "What is unusual this time is that the team directing the project are all ex-Borders Youth Theatre participants.

"Caitlin Morris spent as much time acting as studying in her Undergraduate days in St Andrews and recently gained a Master in Acting from the Royal Conservatoire.

"Esmé Babineux has wide experience of acting across the Borders, regularly at Shakespeare at Traquair, but also elsewhere including Edinburgh Fringe.

"This is her second directing role with BYT.

"Lewis Teckkam, from Hawick, is an aspiring writer and, more recently, an experimental film-maker who has been part of Borders Youth Theatre for many years.

"Although it is not the main purpose of Borders Youth Theatre, a significant number of young people move on to a profession in theatre and other arts and it is very gratifying when they return to share what they have learned with a new generation."

They added: "BYT is grateful for the support from Live Borders which allows the young people the chance to work and perform in a ‘real theatre’."

Remote will be performed on Thursday, February 16 and Saturday, February 18 at 7.30pm at the Heart of Hawick.

Tickets are £9 and £6 for concessions and under 16s.
