BORDERS youngsters looking to embark on a career in rugby saw at first hand yesterday (Wednesday February 22) what it takes to reach the top level when Edinburgh held an open training session held at The Greenyards.

Hundreds took advantage of the free entry to see the senior squad put through their paces ahead of the club’s BKT United Rugby Championship clash against Leinster at DAM Health Stadium (Saturday 4 March, kick-off 5.05pm).

After the session, the players took time to sign autographs and pose for selfies with the fans.

Free Edinburgh Rugby miniature rugby balls were also handed out to the excited youngsters.

Edinburgh Rugby Head Coach Mike Blair welcomed the move to take training on the road to the Borders and said: “The Borders is a heartland of rugby in Scotland. We’re hugely grateful for the support Edinburgh Rugby receives from clubs and teams situated across the region, who so often make the journey north to get behind us at DAM Health Stadium.
