PRINCIPALS for this year's Biggar Gala Week have been announced.

On Saturday (February 25) the Cornet's Club held its Presentation Night where Euan Sanderson was officially made Cornet for 2023.

And the Club has also announced that 28-year-old Craig McDonald will be Cornet-Elect, taking on the role of Cornet next year.

On being selected, Craig, who works for his family's business Taylor's of Biggar Ice Cream, said: "I am absolutely delighted to be asked as Biggar’s Cornet-Elect.

"Having always lived in Biggar I know how great an honour it is.

"The thing I am looking forward to most is Biggar Gala Week and going to different towns to participate in their common rides.

"It is a huge honour to be selected as this year's Cornet-Elect.

"I look forward to fulfilling my duties, supporting Euan and can’t wait for it all to begin!"

Euan will also be joined by 2022 Cornet Michael Allan as his Right Hand Man.

This year's Gala Week court has also been selected, with Mia Leitch named as Fleming Queen-elect.

Mia will be joined by Anne Wilson as Crowning Lady, and her court, which includes:
