RESIDENTS are invited to have their say on current car park charges in Peebles.

The consultation, launched by Scottish Borders Council (SBC), will ask locals to share their parking habits as well as their views on the charges in place at car parks around the town.

There will also be a focus on the use of the Eastgate car park for buses and taxis.

Although the consultation is available online, later this month SBC surveyors will visit Edinburgh Road, Kingsmeadows, Greenside and Hay Lodge car parks to ask users questions.

Councillor Jenny Linehan, executive member for environment and transport, said: “We are taking the opportunity to consult with local residents and visitors to Peebles around the current parking charges regime in place across the town to determine their parking habits and opinions.

“I would like to encourage as many people as possible to submit feedback on this consultation, particularly if you are a user of the parking areas in Peebles or you own or operate a business in the area.

“Your feedback will help determine any future changes to the parking charges in the area, so it’s vitally important you have your opinion heard.”

The views shared through the consultation will help the council shape its future plans for charging at Peebles' car parks which is overseen by the Peebles Parking Group – formed of representatives from Peebles Community Council, local councillors and SBC officers.

Further consultations will be launched ahead of any changes to parking identified in this consultation.

The consultation will close on Friday, March 31 and can be found at: www.scotborders.gov.uk/peeblesparkingconsultation
