A BORDERS man who hurled homophobic abuse at a police officer has been fined £200 at Jedburgh Sheriff Court.
Fifty-one-year-old Jason Cooper, of Hawick, pleaded guilty to threatening or abusive behaviour following the incident at three o’clock in the morning.
The court heard police officers were on patrol when they were confronted by Cooper who was drunk and started swearing at them but were forced to arrest him when he made a homophobic comment towards one of the officers.
A £10 victim surcharge was also imposed.
