PEEBLES Cycling Club (PCC) has played host to a world record breaker as part of its silver jubilee celebrations.

Mark Beaumont gave a talk at a packed Eastgate Theatre last Thursday evening.

Beaumont's is a story of 25 years of gruelling endurance cycle records and achievements.

He holds the record for the fastest circumnavigation of the globe by bike with 18,000 miles in an incredible 78 days, 14 hours and 40 minutes.

Beaumont has held the hour record on a penny farthing, broken the Cairo to Cape Town record and, most recently in September 2022, set a new time to beat or 28 hours and 35 minutes for Scotland’s brutal North Coast 500 route.

Speaking to a sold-out audience, Beaumont spoke of these adventures using short video clips and photographs to tell the story.

A question and answer session then followed facilitated by the PCC.

And on Saturday, May 6, at 7.30pm Peebles Cycling Club is hosting Jenny Graham another record breaking Scottish cyclist at the Eastgate in the next of their series of silver jubilee talks.

In 2018 Jenny smashed the female round the world cycling record by nearly three weeks, finishing in 124 days and 11 hours.

This should be another amazing evening of inspirational stories as Jenny recounts her friendships with strangers and the different cultures she came across cycling the globe.Tickets are available at the Eastgate box office.
