AN INNERLEITHEN meeting has heard that speeding motorists on the road leading into Cardrona estate are most likely to be residents.
Tweeddale East councillor Julie Pirone spoke about a meeting with Brian McCrow, a former member of Innerleithen and District Community Council (IDCC) and Cardrona resident.
Ms Pirone, of the Conservatives, said: “I have spoken to Mr McCrow about the idea of Community Speedwatch and said he should volunteer to take part.
“His concerns and his neighbour’s concerns are serious.”
Ms Pirone told the IDCC meeting that using a Pop-up Bob imitation speed cop and further signage may help to alleviate speeding on the straight, flat part of road leading into Cardrona.
Across a week data has shown that the average speed in the 20mph zone is 24mph and Tweeddale East councillor Robin Tatler said: “It is residents who live in Cardrona and delivery drivers who speed off the roundabout at Nashy’s.”
