SIX people were taken to hospital following a two-vehicle crash near Peebles at the weekend.

The crash took place on the A703 road around 3.25pm on Sunday April 9.

Multiple ambulances were dispatched to the scene along with police officers and firefighters.

The road was closed for around two hours as emergency services made the area safe.

The six injured parties were taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 15:26 on 9 April 2023 to attend a road traffic collision on the A703 near Peebles. Multiple resources were dispatched to the scene and six patients were transported to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.”

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 3.31pm on Sunday, 9 April to reports of a road traffic collision involving two cars on the A703, Edinburgh Road, Peebles.

"Operations Control mobilised two appliances to the scene to assist emergency service partners. A number of casualties were in the care of paramedics and taken to hospital. Crews left after making the area safe."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of a crash involving two cars on the A703 between Leadburn and Peebles, at around 3.25pm on Sunday, 9 April, 2023.

“Arrangements were made to clear the road.”
