RECORD published author Jenny Graham will pedal into Peebles on May 6 as part of a UK tour to celebrate the publication of her debut book, Coffee First, Then the World.
Presented by Peebles Cycling Club, Jenny will recount how, over the course of 18,000 miles, she smashed the women’s round-the-world cycling record by nearly three weeks, finishing in 124 days and 11 hours.
Wonderfully warm and humorous, Jenny’s account of her solo and unsupported lap of the planet swerves from terrifying near collisions on Russian roads and weather extremes in the southern hemisphere to forging friendships with strangers and close encounters with kangaroos and grizzly bears. “Although not at the same time,” she said. “That would be ridiculous.”
Jenny’s appearance at the Eastgate Theatre, Peebles (7.30pm, 6 May) is part of a 20-date book tour that sees her cycle from 20 venues between the New Forest in southern England to her home in Inverness.
