REHEARSALS have been stepping up for The 39 steps, Tweed Theatre’s next production at the Eastgate Theatre.

The award winning spoof adaptation makes huge demands on its cast of four with multiple roles ranging from Richard Hannay himself through a multiplicity of characters from crazy Highlanders to deadly spies, sometimes changing from one role to another so fast it’s hard to keep up.

Director Sam French says “It’s a surreal experience directing brilliant actors who move from one character to another with the switch of a hat and the change of an accent and create a constant flow of scenes.

“The humour is infectious and sometimes I can‘t watch them get through a scene without breaking down laughing.”

Pre-ticket sales are at an unprecedented level for this tribute to the ground breaking Buchan novel and classic 1935 Hitchcock film so anyone interested should buy theirs now or risk disappointment.

Tweed Theatre’s production runs from May 11-13 at the Eastgate Theatre, Peebles.
