A GALASHIELS man who admitted dangerous driving on the A7 at Fountainhall has been banned from the road for 12 months at Selkirk Sheriff Court.
Tyre company worker Sam Robinson, 28, pleaded guilty to driving at excessive speed, crossing solid white lines and carrying out an overtaking manoeuvre on the afternoon on April 2 last year.
Police officers who were carrying out checks on the road stopped the vehicle and found the accused was the driver and he made no reply.
Sheriff Peter Paterson said the offence was at the lower end of dangerous driving but explained it carried a mandatory disqualification.
In addition to the ban he was ordered to re-sit the extended driving test and fined £400 with a £20 victim surcharge.
