THE three Tweeddale West councillors welcomed dummy speed cop Pop-up Bob to West Linton in a bid to enforce 20mph limits in the village.
Tweeddale West councillor Drummond Begg said: “Despite speed limits being reduced to 20mph in built-up areas some drivers continue to choose to speed.
“On one strip of road in West Linton, four cats have been killed during the past few years.
“If a driver can’t stop in time to avoid hitting a cat they must be going way too fast in a 20mph zone.
“All three Tweeddale West councillors – myself, Eric Small and Viv Thomson – have been hearing from residents about their experiences regarding vehicle speed.
“We all hope that speeding in residential areas will become as socially unacceptable as drink-driving, twenty’s plenty.”
