A NEW question time for the public has been introduced by Scottish Borders Council (SBC).

Members of the public can now submit questions which will be answered when the full council meets each month.

The council welcomes questions from people aged 16 or over which relate to issues and matters within the responsibility of the council and which affect the general well-being of residents in the Borders.

A maximum of five questions from the public will be asked at each full council meeting.

Questions can be submitted by filling in and submitting the forms on the council website, with valid questions put forward for the next appropriate meeting of the council.

Councillor Euan Jardine, SBC council leader, said: “Scottish Borders Council welcome residents’ views on how we can support communities and are also keen to get feedback on the work we do. Questions to council is in addition to the many other ways we engage with communities across the Scottish Borders.”

While members of the public may attend the council meeting to listen to their question being answered, they are not entitled to ask the question or any supplementary follow up question to be answered at the meeting.
