A 26-YEAR-OLD man who was abusive to his partner has been ordered to carry out 225 hours of unpaid work as an alternative to custody.
Kerr Halliday, who gave an address in Jedburgh, admitted engaging in a course of conduct which was abusive to the woman in July and August 2021.
He was ordered to attend the Caledonian Men’s Programme and also undertake any alcohol awareness courses his supervising officer deems appropriate.

At Selkirk Sheriff Court he was also given a two-year Non-Harassment Order preventing any contact with his former partner.
Sheriff Mungo Bovey said he was concerned that Halliday was a risk to women when consuming alcohol and had considered prohibiting him from drinking alcohol.
He ordered him to carry out the unpaid work within one year and also put him on supervision for two years as part of a Community Pay Back Order.
