BORDER MP John Lamont has encouraged local people to get involved with Selkirk Scout Group as Volunteers’ Week draws to a close today Wednesday June 7.
He paid tribute to the “positive impact” the Scouts have locally and urged others to help if they can.

The MP for Berwickshire Roxburgh and Selkirk also said he was “delighted and honoured” to receive the Youth Advocacy Award badge from the group.
Mr Lamont joined in the activities of the Selkirk Scout Group last week and said he was “very impressed” with all the skills the group had learned.

He said: “The Scouts make a really positive impact locally and I’d encourage anyone who can to get involved and volunteer. They are always looking for more help to continue the group’s success.
“It was a joy to spend an evening joining in the activities of the Selkirk Scout Group and see all the badges they have earned. I was very impressed with the skills the young people have learned and all the effort they’ve put in.
