A 72-YEAR-OLD man was left with “serious facial injuries” after an attack at a Peeblesshire playground, according to police.
The incident at the playpark at the end of Innerleithen’s Hall Street took place at around 7pm on Saturday (June 8), say officers.
The man was reportedly assaulted by ‘youths’ and needed hospital treatment for his injuries.
The youths are described as aged 13 to 16 and were wearing black hoodies, according to police.
Detective Sergeant Jamie Gilmore said: “This was an unprovoked attack that left an elderly man with serious injuries.
“Officers have been carrying out door to door and CCTV enquiries to try to identify those involved.
“The park was busy and we are asking anyone in the area at the time to come forward to help us with our enquiries.
