DOUBLE gold medal-winning Olympian Scott Brash has cleared the final planning hurdle in his bid to build an equestrian building at a Peebles farm.

The showjumping star completed an almost faultless performance in the final of the team event this summer in Paris to claim top spot on the podium.

Now Brash – who has a lifesize sculpture honouring him in Peebles – has won planning approval to build a shed at Castlehill Farm.

It is to be used as a feeding station for horses.

A supporting statement with the application, submitted by Edinburgh-based Derek Scott Planning on behalf of Brash, said: “It is to be used as a feeding station for the horses and is to be sited south of the existing feeding shelter on the eastern side of the Manor Water.

“The need for the shed has arisen as a result of the increased number of horses on the farm from horse breeding activities, coupled with wetter weather conditions which is impacting on the welfare and well-being of the horses kept at the farm.”
