APPROVAL has been granted for the extension of a recreational hut in West Linton which featured in a recent best-selling book.
The hut on land east of Wester Deans forms part of 15 huts at North Cloich.
A report with the successful application, submitted to Scottish Borders Council by Richard Heggie, director of Urban Animation, states: “The council has recently granted amended planning permission for other huts of this size at the North Cloich hut site.
“The design utilises the established building form and materials, including massing, roof pitch/finish, wall planes, window sizes/orientation and timber wall cladding.
“It continues a collaborative process, working again with timber building specialists Good With Design, who constructed the hut and shaped the design.
“The extension adopts the design language of the existing hut to create a somewhat larger structure. It remains a small, simple timber building of high quality design and finish, very sensitively located within the surrounding woodland.”
The hut featured in Peter McQueen’s best-selling book ‘The Art of Hutting’, published in 2023.
