A YELLOW weather warning for ice has been issued by the Met Office for the Borders.
The alert comes into place from 4pm today and carries through until 10am on Friday.
The Met Office has issued the warning due to forecasted “scattered wintry showers” which could lead to icy patches.
A spokesperson said: “Scattered wintry showers, occasionally feeding inland from the North Sea through Thursday evening and night, may lead to some icy patches on untreated surfaces as temperatures fall below freezing.
“Isolated snow accumulations of 1-3cm are possible, mainly on hills above 150m elevation.”
They added: “If you need to make a journey on foot, try to use pavements along main roads which are likely to be less slippery.
“Similarly, if cycling, try and stick to main roads which are more likely to have been treated.
"Give yourself the best chance of avoiding delays by checking road conditions if driving, or bus and train timetables, amending your travel plans if necessary.”
The warning area covers the majority of the Borders. However, western parts of the region, such as Peebles, are not included.
