ADDITIONAL toilets are set to be made available for the public this coming Beltane, it has been confirmed.
The Peebles Common Good heard that porta-loos are to be provided ahead of this year’s festival.
It comes after increased calls for extra provision during the celebrations in the wake of a fire which gutted the toilets at Kingsmeadows Park in October.
Tweeddale East councillor Julie Pirone told Wednesday’s meeting of the Common Good (June 10): “We are hopeful that the Beltane Committee will get some extra funding for the porta-loos and I am told that it is in hand.
“There should be funding coming from [Scottish Borders Council] and I will chase it up again.”
George Ramsay was attending on behalf of the Beltane Committee and confirmed that it has ordered the toilets, while it awaits the grant from the local authority.
