A WEEK on from the tragic road accident that caused the death of Oliver Eaton - police are re-appealing for witnesses.

Around 9:50pm on Sunday, May 22, the 26-year-old sustained fatal injuries when the blue Audi S3 he was driving collided with a tree on the A721 near Kirkdean, Peeblesshire.

He had been travelling on the eastbound carriageway having come from the A702 West Linton.

Emergency services were called to the scene and paramedics transferred Oliver to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.

Sadly, he later succumbed to his injuries.

Police are today thanking the public for their response, and are also asking for anyone who saw a blue BMW in the Peeblesshire area on Sunday evening to get in touch.

Equally, officers want to hear from anyone who saw the blue Audi S3 prior to the collision happening.

Sergeant Neil Inglis of the Road Policing Unit based at Galashiels said: “Our inquiries are continuing and we are trying to establish the full set of circumstances.

“I would encourage anyone who was travelling on the A702 or A721 at around 9:50pm or shortly beforehand on Sunday (May 22) to contact us immediately if they witnessed either of these vehicles.”

Those with any relevent information should contact police on 101 or the charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
