THERE was a good turn out of 16 walkers for the Biggar Ramblers outing to Durisdeer.

There is lovely walking routes in the area but on Sundays throughout August and September there is the added attraction of a traditional afternoon tea in the church hall.

The walkers split into two groups with most of them led by John Hart heading up Durisdeer Rig.

Jesse Tennent took the second group up Glen Aggart. The weather was kind and both groups were rewarded with fine views of the Southern Uplands, fortunately mostly facing away from the local wind farm proliferation.

This special area should be protected, if it was the Lake District it would have been long ago! From Durisdeer Rig the walkers made their way to the featureless top of Scawd Law before descending on a steep access track into Glen Aggart, where with impeccable timing they met up with the other group and returned to the village for the much anticipated afternoon tea.

It didn't disappoint, a big thanks are due to the ladies of Durisdeer Church who prepare it all.
