POLICE made a dash for a small village near Glasgow early this morning after a house party descended into chaos.

The force swarmed the scene on Camnethan Street in Stonehouse, near Larkhall, just before 7am.

Five people were arrested and charged after a “disturbance” within a property.

A police officer was allegedly assaulted during the incident.

The ages of all arrested and charged ranged from 18 to 48.

Some reports have suggested as many as a dozen police vehicles dashed to the scene.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman told the Evening Times the force was alerted to the incident at around 6.40am on Saturday, September 29, following a noise complaint at a flat in Camnethan Street, Stonehouse, near Larkhall.

She added: “On police arrival, a disturbance took place within, which resulted in the arrest and charge of two men - aged 23 and 18 years - and three women - aged 21, 18 and 48 years - in connection with the incident.

“The 23-year-old man and the 21-year-old woman are due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff court on Monday, October 1.

“The 18-year-old man and 18-year-old woman have been released on an undertaking to appear at court at a later date.

“A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

“The 48-year-old woman was issued with a Fixed Penalty Notice.”
