TALENTED youngsters came in for high praise for their performances in a show staged by a community drama group.

Oyster Theatre put on the one-night only musical extravaganza in Walkerburn Village Hall.

In a bid to inspire and encourage the youngers members of the company they were invited to write, cast, direct and produce their own segment of the production.

Oyster founder and director Sue Tickner said: “A big thank you to all the people who made lasts Tuesday’s show such a success. Everyone loved it!” The sketch ‘The Mirror’, written by one of the older members Ryan Cochrane, was produced and stage managed by the young cast. Many of the youngsters have been with Oyster since 2012 and after seeing the production and technical work being done for shows they were given the chance to learn it for themselves.

This was followed by ‘Finale ll’, written by Sue. The show starts with a finale, the cast are at a loose end wondering what to do with themselves with no rehearsals to go to. They see a poster for auditions for a pantomime and race off to take part. They sing, dance and act hoping to impress the stoney faced director. Sue added: “Thanks for supporting Oyster Theatre, the cast love it and can’t wait to start rehearsing for Aladdin which will be staged in December.” TALENTED youngsters came in for high praise for their performances in a show staged by a community drama group.
