LONG-SERVING volunteer Pete Wiggins has retired from Walkerburn-based Home Basics.

Pete had been volunteering since 1999 and during his 16 years had taken on many roles, including serving on the board as a director, van driver and latterly helping in the warehouse pricing and selling donations.

To mark his retirement many of Pete’s fellow volunteers and members of staff gathered to present him with an engraved glass award as a memento of his time at Home Basics. Everyone then enjoyed cake and biscuits suitably decorated by one of the younger volunteers.

Pete expressed his thanks and commented how he had enjoyed his time at Home Basics.

He said: “Volunteering is worthwhile, and I would recommend it to people. I have enjoyed my years volunteering for Home Basics and have made many friends.” If you would like to volunteer with Home Basics, please phone Walkerburn 01896 870455 or visit www.homebasics.org.uk.
