DISCUSSIONS are continuing over the steps necessary to save the Red Cross shop in a Borders village.
The building in High Street, West Linton is threatened with closure unless important structural repairs are carried out.
Graham Tulloch, the secretary of West Linton Community Council, said: “Improvements are bing discussed with the voluntary manager but we reserve the right to step in if nothing happens.” Tweeddale West councillor Willie Archibald said: “I have been given assurances by a senior member of the Red Cross that something will be done about this.” The shop has been a popular meeting place for residents for many years and community council chairman Eric Small said: “It is good to know that we seem to have the matter in hand now.”
