Peeblesshire News Weekly Sport Round Up: Countdown to major cycling event marked by lighting up Borders attractionCountdown to major cycling event marked by lighting up Borders attraction - Can Scotland make it a hat trick of Calcutta Cup wins for first time in 50-years?
ORGANISERS of a major cycling event which arrives in the Borders later this year have lit up a local tourist attraction to celebrate an exciting milestone.
Last year’s Calcutta Cup match saw the Scots run out 20-17 winners in Edinburgh, the first time they had beaten England two years in a row since 1983-84.
The 33-year-old Glasgow lock has won 69 caps but has been on the periphery of the national team for much of Gregor Townsend’s five-and-a-half-year reign.
