During this time, the little extras provided by charities made this difficult time much easier for me. As a result we, as a family, decided to do something to raise money to help other cancer patients in the future.

On Tuesday, August 4, we hosted a charity stockjudging and auction here at Hamildean Farm, and would like to thank all the people who helped make it such an amazing success - the people who donated such a lot of items for us to auction and put into the tombola; the people who brought home-baking to help feed everyone; the companies who donated bread and pies etc; the ladies who came and made huge piles of sandwiches; the many people who helped on the night; those who have sent monetary donations, and lastly everyone who came and participated. Thank you also to Peeblesshire JAC who did such an excellent job of running the stockjudging and getting such a lot of scoring done very quickly.

The money is not all in yet, but at present the total appears to be over £31,000 – just phenomenal. A great night was had by all and it is a credit to our community that such a huge sum has been raised. The money will be divided between FACE (Fighting Against Cancer Edinburgh) and Fund 30 at the Borders General Hospital.

A massive thank you everyone.

I am, etc.
