GALA Hotspur kept alive their hopes of promotion from Division B with a four goal win over local rivals Lauder.

Spurs now sit four points off 2nd place thanks to goals from Duncan Kemp, Stewart Robertson, Colin Jeffrey and an own goal.

Robertson said: “We battled the whole game for the win. It was a great team performance.”

Scott Duncan and Euan Thomson scored to keep Hawick Legion top after a 2-0 victory over Linton Hotspur, while at the other end of the table Euan Waddell and an own goal eased Biggar United’s relegation fears with another 2-0 win against Leithen Rovers.

Sean Robertson’s hat-trick gave Duns Amateurs a shock 4-0 victory at home to Earlston Rhymers to leave the Dingers two points from safety and Kelso Thistle hammered St Boswells 4-0.

In Division A, Hawick Waverley destroyed a depleted Newtown 11-0 to go to the top of the table.

Charlie Hope scored three, with other goals coming from braces by Euan Gray, Greg Ford and Jordan Yardley, as well as strikes by Grant Gass and Jodie Easdon.

Bottom side Coldstream surprised Gordon with a 3-2 win at Stewart Park to go level with Newtown on eight points, while understrength Greenlaw had to put goalkeeper Alan Anderson up front, only for the stopper to score in a 1-1 draw at Hawick United.

Conrad Mackenzie and Dougie Bond both scored doubles for Langlee Amateurs in a 4-1 win at Hawick Legion Rovers which takes them to within two points of the top of Division C, with six games in hand on leaders Highfields United.

Dean Jeffrey scored a quartet in Ancrum’s 6-1 hammering of Kelso Amateurs, while Gala Fairydean Rovers won 2-0 at Berwick Colts.

And Selkirk Victoria are through to the Sanderson Cup semi-finals after Ryan Clapperton scored two in a 4-0 triumph at Melrose.
