TWEEDDALE Rovers came back to haunt West Barns Star with a fine South Cup win.

West Barns Star left the Border Amateur League two seasons ago to join the Lothians and Edinburgh leagues and looked to be advancing to the last 16 stage of the cup after taking a 2-0 lead through Jake Johnstone and Robbie Cockburn.

But they were undone as Nathan McDonald and a Ross Meikle double saw the Peebles side fightback to win 3-2.

Chirnside United also secured a notable South Cup win as they knocked out last season’s finalists Bonnyrigg Rose 3-1.

Daniel Romaines, Joe Condy and a stunning strike by Jake Lough helped United to a morale boosting result.

Sean Robertson notched a hat-trick as Duns thrashed Symington Tinto 9-0 while Langlee Amateurs beat struggling Lauder 12-0, with Des Sutherland scoring five and Liam Wallace three.

Stow were unable to overcome ten-man Pencaitland as they lost 3-1 at home, and Coldstream were knocked out by Ormiston.

In an all-Border Amateur League tie, Jed Legion beat Newtown 4-2 as Nathan Gillie scored two, and Berwick Colts held off a Hawick Legion comeback to win 4-3.

And Liam Lavery, Ross Scott and Aaron Swailes scored as Hawick United claimed a 3-0 triumph at Selkirk Victoria.

Greenlaw’s good form in Division A continued as they claimed their fifth win in six league games with a 4-2 win at Langholm Legion.

Four second half goals including a double from Dean Carruthers secured the points.

But Gala Hotspur’s struggles continued as they lost 3-2 at home to Gordon.

Tweedmouth Amateurs extended their Division B lead with a 2-1 win at Biggar United and Ancrum and Hawick Legion Rovers won in Division C.
