Howe of Fife 3
Peebles 24
Allan Beveridge
at Duffus Park
SATURDAY'S visit to Cupar proved tricky in many ways for Peebles.
Not only did they face an afternoon of pouring rain and blustery winds, but the bus driver somehow managed to miss the Forth crossing - adding an additional half hour or so onto the journey.
But conditions and sat-nav issues aside, Peebles performed pretty well against the league's bottom team.
And they came home with a bonus point victory.
The large home crowd were given something to cheer early on as Dylan Suttie slotted a penalty.
But the signs were ominous for Howe as Peebles dominated the scrums.
The visitors took the lead midway through the half with this season's top try scorer, Neil Hogarth, racing in from 40 metres out.
Donald Anderson, on his return after a lengthy lay-off, slotted the conversion.
It was some excellent driving play by the pack that allowed Rohan Maciver to drive over for a second try before the interval.
Again Anderson was accurate for the extras.
There was no let up in the rain which slowed the game down in the second half.
But Peebles continued to press the hosts back, and it came as no surprise when Kieran Brown sliced through the defence to score a third try.
The swirling wind made sure the conversion didn't trouble the posts.
With time running out Ryan Stewart secured the fourth-try bonus point with a lung-bursting run from the half way line.
