VALE player-manager Chris Anderson has vowed never to pull the gloves back on again after a horror show on Saturday.

The highly-rated striker had to deputise between the sticks after keeper Mark Wilson was injured just ten minutes into the second half.

And, having already used his only substitute, the injury also saw Vale go down to ten players.

Uni had been one up when the former Dunfermline and Berwick Rangers player pulled on the gloves.

And within half an hour he'd conceded a further five.

Chris told us: "All five goals that went past me could have been prevented by a normal goalkeeper.

"It was like, every time they shot it went in.

"It was a freak game with us having used our only substitute just a couple of minutes before Mark was hurt.

"It's safe to say I'll never be playing in goals again."

In a goalless first half both Wilson and his opposite number Mark Tait had been forced into several saves with both teams creating chances.

But six minutes into the second half Greg Swan broke the deadlock.

With Matt Underhill limping off just moments later and solitary substitute Jed Grant taking the field, Vale were still in the game.

But an awkward landing from Wilson saw him dislocate his shoulder rotator cuff.

And Anderson was left with no option but to deputise in goals.

Swan notched a second just moments later to make it 2-0.

Aiden Kemp, Max Condie and Santeri Kulvalainen also beat Anderson before Swan made it 6-0 with his hat-trick in the closing stages.
