BORDERS athlete Chris O'Hare made it two-in-a-row at the Vitality Westminster Mile on Sunday.
The 28-year-old from West Linton went off as pre-race favourite.
But the European Indoor silver medalist over 5,000 meters was made to fight all the way to the line by Jonathan Davies.
O’Hare led the top-class field with 250 metres to go on the loop course around St James’s Park.
Davies moved into second to challenge the defending champion but O’Hare had a few inches to spare as he set a new course record.
Although it appeared Chris had ran the first sub-four minute mile in the event's history, with the clock showing 3:59, as with all road races the time was rounded up and officially recorded as 4:00.
Chris, who retains the Roger Bannister Trophy, told us: "I was not too bothered about the time, it was all about winning the race.
"Tom Marshall set a good pace and I knew it would be fast."
Runner-up Davies, who is the European Under 23 cross country champion, was given the same 4:00 time and third-placed Elliot Giles was clocked at 4:01.
