HAWICK'S Ryan Elliot triumphed at Whitestone Park on Sunday to claim the coveted Beltane Sprint title.

Running from 9/5 metres, Elliot burst through the field to break the tape ahead of Edinburgh's Kate Purves and Kieran Halliday of Central.

Euan Hood won the one-lap race in front of his home crowd.

The teenager, who competes for Lasswade, finished strongly to beat long-time leaders Jai Patterson and Nina Cessford.

Kelso claimed both of the middle-distance races with Colin Welsh winning the 800 metres and Matthew Fleming lifting the 1600 metres trophy.

But it was young Gala Harrier Callum Tharme who proved too strong in the 3,200 metres with an impressive run to deny Kelso's Wayne McIntosh.

Leithenburn showed up well in the youths races with Robyn Keddie claiming gold in the 13-16 year-olds sprint, Stefan Nightingale winning the 13-16 years one-lap race, and Robyn also winning the confined sprint.

Fellow Innerleithen athlete Josh landers broke the tape in the 9-12 years one-lap race.
