THE oldest rugby league in the world has yet again received generous backing from Bookers Cash and Carry.
Scott Robertson from Bookers in Galashiels handed over a cheque for £1500 to Border League President Gordon Brown and Secretary Bob Sneddon last week.
Mr Robertson also accepted a brass plaque from the league representatives to mark the unbroken sponsorship over the past eight years.
A spokesman for the Border League told us: "The Border League was formed in 1901 and is the oldest rugby league in the world.
"It is a competition which is keenly and competitively fought for each season by purely Border clubs.
"The continuation of this league and competition must continue and without the backing by Bookers it would be very difficult to survive.
"It is hoped that this friendly relationship can continue into the future."
