MIDLEM athlete Zoe Pflug had double cause to celebrate on Saturday at the East of Scotland Cross Country Championships.

The student stormed round the Dundee course to claim gold in the Women's Under 20s race.

And her victory, by more than 30 seconds, also helped her Edinburgh University Hare and Hounds club to team gold as well.

There was a team silver for the young Moorfoots boys in the Under 13s race.

Kieran Fulton finished sixth with Shaun Pyman crossing the line in 22nd and Thomas Hilton in 26th.

The Moorfoot Under 13s girls also won team bronze.

Elena Lee's 10th along with Abbie Little claiming 13th and Ava Mooney's 23rd was enough for the bronze medals.

Former Gala Harrier Callum Tharme helped Edinburgh University to team bronze in the Men's Under 20s race with his sixth place finish.

Gala Harriers senior women's team were just outside the medals.

Kirsten Maxwell (13th), Sara Green (15th), Lizzie Mcleish (24th) and Katy Barden (27th) finished fourth team.

The Gala Harriers Under 15s Boys, led by fifth placed Euan Christie, were also fourth.

Isla Paterson was first Borderer home in the Under 15s girls as she finished seventh.

Gregor Collins was tenth for Gala Harriers in the Boys Under 17s race.
