INTERNATIONAL athlete Eoin Lennon cemented his place at the top of the Borders Cross Country Series after breaking the tape at Paxton House on Sunday.

Despite competing at Stirling the previous day, the Carnethy runner had a 12 seconds cushion over runner-up Mark Shankey from the Hunter Bog Trotters.

Ray Ward, also fr4om Hunter Bog Trotters, was third with first local Clark Scott, from Gala Harriers, claiming fifth spot.

Lauderdale Limper Marc Wilkinson sprinted home in ninth, just ahead of 12th placed Rory Anderson of Teviotdale Harriers and Gala’s Tim Darlow in 13th.

Rowena Haliday from Dunbar was first in the women’s race at the picturesque Berwickshire estate.

Megan Wright from Hunter Bog Trotters claimed second, just ahead of Susan Ridley from Peebles and Moorfoot athlete Carol Moss.

A total of 184 seniors completed the Paxton course.

East Lothian claimed a one-two in the junior race with Angus Wright beating Innes Wright to the finish line.

Edinburgh’s Dylan Daunt edged out Gala’s Zico Field for third.

Haddington’s Cerys Wright claimed the girls’ race ahead of Iona Jameson from Teviotdale and Lauderdale’s Libby Barr.

A total of 107 juniors finished the race.
