VALE of Leithen will compete in the Lowland League next season.

Officials from the SLFL announced this evening that the season would end with immediate effect.

But in the statement, bosses said that although leaders Kelty Hearts would be promoted, the bottom side would not be relegated.

That means the Innerleithen team will be certain of a place in the division next term.

Vale of Leithen manager Chris Anderson said: “We believe this is the correct decision and I am now looking to forward to start planning for next season’s Lowland League campaign.”

Vice chairman John Anderson added: “We would like to congratulate Kelty Hearts on a successful campaign and deserved recognition as champions.

“The decision not to relegate any team based on a incomplete season is the right call, and we now look to draw a line under this season and look forward to a successful 2020/2021 season in the Lowland League.”

Fellow Borders side Gala Fairydean Rovers finish the season in 11th place.
