MOORFOOT athlete Andrew Cox climbed to victory last week at the gruelling Screel Hill Race in Dumfriesshire.

A total of 54 runners took on the tough 3.5 miles race at Palnackie which includes 1,300 feet of climbing.

And it was Andrew who emerged victorious, crossing the finishing line in 33.56 minutes.

The Moorfoot athlete was 21 seconds ahead of runner-up Craig Freshwater from Hunters Bog Trotters, with Colin Donnelly of Cambuslang a further 13 seconds back in third.

The win continues Andrew's good early season form, following last month's second place at Criffel Hill Race by New Abbey also in Dumfriesshire.
