Biggar U18s 27

Stirling County U18s 21

Al Stewart at Murrayfield

Absolutely fabulous.

What an incredible achievement for Biggar Girls U18s as they managed to defeat Stirling County in what was a humdinger of a cup final on Saturday on the big pitch at Murrayfield.

For a club the size of Biggar this was a major achievement although, to be fair, this is another of those magical moments that the girls have been serving up over the years - the first such triumph coming some seven years ago in 2011 when the then U15s lifted the cup of that year.

Things have moved on however and the competition is tougher as the girls become more skilled and more competitive and this was certainly the case on Sunday when the result was in doubt until virtually the final whistle.

With the sides trading scores throughout the match, Biggar clinched the win after coming from behind with just three nerve-janglng minutes remaining.

All credit to the squad, their coaches and of course the parents and club members who support their team from week to week.

The teams had met already this season in the Mirage Conference.

Sunday's clash the third between the sides and with each having claimed a victory this was – aside from being the cup final – the series decider.

Perhaps just as remarkably, this was for some another Murrayfield success, several of the Biggar squad having already tasted victory as members of the club’s U15 Cup winning side of the last three seasons.
