LEGENDARY Irish band the Fureys come to Peebles next week with their unique brand of timeless songs, great musicianship, and fantastic stories.

Last September the band realised a long held intention to record songs written by great writers and performers they have met over the years including Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Ewan McColl, Pete Seeger, Jim Croce and Gordon Lightfoot.

Next week's show is expected to feature tracks from the new album ‘The Times they are a changing' and could feature reworkings of classics such as “I don’t Want to Talk About It”, “Mr Tambourine Man”, “Blowing in the Wind” and many more, all mixed in with traditional favourites.

Over the years some of their greatest admirers have ranged from the neighbours they grew up with in Ballyfermot to celebrities and politicians around the world. They have performed for leaders such as former Australian Prime Minister John Howard, former Irish President Mary McAleese and Pope John Paul. Recently, Irish President Michael D Higgins attended their concert in Dublin’s National Concert Hall.

Tony Blair is also a fan, having publicly stated that his favourite song of all time is the Fureys “Green Fields of France”.

They play at the Eastgate Theatre in Peebles next Tuesday, March 15 at 19:30.

Tickets are priced £18, £10 for schoolchildren.
