To welcome the New Year, Biggar Music Club is presenting a concert with Steven Osborne, Scotland's internationally acclaimed pianist, Sunday, January 6 at 2.30pm.

Biggar is looking forward to welcoming him again with a classical programme of Beethoven and Schubert. Alongside his performances at some of the world's leading music venues, Steven values his home country and the relationship he has built with Scottish audiences.

Steven began his music studies with Richard Beauchamp at St Mary's Music School in Edinburgh , and then continued at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester.

His programme for Biggar includes two works by Schubert, Impromptu, D.935, No. 1, and Sonata in G, D.984, followed by Bagatelles, Op.119, and Sonata in C minor, Op. 111 by Beethoven.

Steven's recitals of carefully crafted programmes are publically and critically acclaimed, and as one of Britain's foremost musicians, he is renowned for his idiomatic approach to a wide variety of repertoire from the mainstream classical works of Mozart, Beethoven and Brahms to the rarefied worlds of Messiaen, Tippett and Britten.

Concerto performances take Steven to orchestras all over the world, including recent visits to The Netherlands, Germany, Finland, Norway and America, and he has just returned from a tour of Australia. He has performed in many of the world's prestigious venues, including Carnegie Hall, Concertgebouw, Amsterdam, and in Berlin, Hamburg, Brussels and Tokyo. In the UK he works regularly with the major orchestras, especially with the Philharmonia, City of Birmingham Symphony and BBC Philharmonic Orchestras. His concerts are frequently broadcast by the BBC, he performs every year at the Wigmore Hall, and has made eight appearances at the Proms.

Steven has won many awards and outstanding reviews for his recordings on Hyperion, for music by Britten, the 24 Preludes by Rachmaninov, the complete Preludes by Debussy, works by Messiaen, Tippett, Liszt, Sonatas and Bagatelles by Beethoven, and the Complete Solo Piano Music by Ravel. Steven will bring a selection of his recordings for sale at the concert.
